When?

Generally on the 15th of each month, unless that is a Friday or Saturday, when we usually choose a nearby date.

Arrive from 7.30pm for an 8pm prompt start.

Meetings last about one and a half hours, sometimes up to two.

The reason for a fixed date, rather than a fixed day of the week, is that some of our members attend or teach evening classes on fixed days. This way, those members should be able to get to at least some of our meetings.

Where?

Generally in the upstairs Function Room at The Malt, Main Street, Burley-in-Wharfedale, LS29 7DN (between Ilkley and Otley).

Downstairs is a pub serving bar meals until 8pm and a restaurant. Our members buy hot or cold drinks to take with them into the meeting. Sometimes they have a bar meal before the meeting or retire to the bar to chat afterwards.

Sometimes our monthly meetings are elsewhere. Our pre-Christmas meeting is usually in the church hall, by St Mary's parish church (next door to The Malt), which has a kitchen so that we can prepare our own food. In one of the summer months we traditionally have an evening walk instead of an indoor meeting. Occasionally we go on visits to places of interest.

By....

Car: there is a car-park adjacent to The Malt.

Bus: the X84 service between Leeds and Ilkley via Otley stops practically outside the door of The Original Malt Shovel.

Train: Burley-in-Wharfedale station is on the Wharfedale Line between Leeds/Bradford and Ilkley. Walk down Station Road to the mini-roundabout, then turn right along Main Street until you reach The Malt; it takes a good 10 minutes. See the map.
